A track-only hypercar with a bonnet almost as long as the rest of the car, a fixed rear wing the size of a shelf and a number 17 roundel on each door. The shape is the Aston Martin Vulcan's; the model wears its own VMX badging rather than a maker's name.

What it does

  • Bonnet lifts forward — the whole front clamshell swings up, the way the real race car's does, showing the moulded V12 underneath.
  • Doors open — onto a stripped racing cabin with bucket seats.
  • Lights and sound — headlights and tail lights both work, with an engine note.
  • Pull back and go — a friction motor drives it across the floor.

Looking after it

The rear wing and the front splitter stand well clear of the body and are the first things to catch on anything. Lift it by the roof rather than the wing, wipe it with a dry cloth, and take the cells out if it is going on a shelf for months.

It sits low — only 5.6 cm tall — so it looks its best on an open shelf rather than behind glass.
